On my regular blog rounds tonight, I stumbled upon one of the most beautiful pictures I've ever seen and wanted to share it with you.
Yes, I love rescue dogs. And yes, I'm a total sucker for photography, but come on! Look at this little lady.
In Raleigh, NC, Mary Shannon Johnstone has been taking rescue dogs out of the shelter for one day for the past two years and bringing them to a local landfill to give them a day of one-on-one time and take beautiful pictures of them. The project is called Landfill Dogs and its unique idea and beautiful message makes me want to take each and every one of these dogs home.
"This landscape offers a metaphor of hope. It is a place of trash that has been transformed into a place of beauty. I hope the viewer also sees the beauty in these homeless, unloved creatures." says the photographer.
I have a rescue and am a firm believer in rescuing if you can and I'm so happy to support and encourage other people in the process These dogs are so beautiful and to think that they are in danger of euthanasia breaks my heart.
"My goal is to offer an individual face to the souls that are lost because of animal overpopulation, and give these animals one last chance." -Johnstone.
She so beautifully conveys the message that one man's trash, is another man's treasure.
