So We're Getting Hitched.

About two weeks ago, I said I would talk more about the fact that i'm engaged, and well, here we go!

Let me start by saying that this didn't come as a huge surprise to me but was still one of the most romantic beautiful days of my life.  I knew more or less that it was coming, and I knew what the stone looked like but when it all came together I couldn't imagine how beautiful it all was.

Let's start at the beginning.

Over this past summer we took a trip back home to the Adirondacks.  On our way out to visit with my grandma at her summer camp, Alex stopped the car and asked me to marry him.  This being a complete surprise and him not having a ring, I just started laughing!  I thought he was joking, and immediately we started joking about him asking me and it not taking.

This got the ball rolling and Alex's grandmother happily shared with us her collection of stones that she had gotten in New Mexico in the sixties.  We picked one out together and then Alex had the setting made for the turquoise.

Fast forward to December 20th and Alex was playing a show at a local place where I met up with him after I got out of work.  Over drinks he told me that unfortunately the ring wouldn't be ready before we left to go to the Adirondacks for Christmas in 2 days.  So we went home excited thinking that soon enough we would be engaged, but disappointed we couldn't tell everyone over Christmas break.

However the next morning Alex said he was off to run and errand and I just sat around the house having a lazy Saturday morning.  He came back and I was chattering away at what I had done in the period of time he was gone in.  Then he was down on one knee asking me to marry him! The ring was more beautiful than I could have ever imagined and the proposal was just as special.

It wasn't showy or flashy, but it was completely ours.  It's unique and beautiful just like the ring itself.

This past Sunday, we had an Engagement party brunch at our house to celebrate with all of our friends.  It was such a perfect day, everyone brought something to eat or drink and we all laughed and caught up.  It was so wonderful to see everyone and feel all the love from everyone that we love!

Of course I forgot to take pictures at the peak of the party, but you get the idea.

It was one of the best days of my life.
