Fun-A-Day. From the Top.

Well, I have decided that I am going to do another crazy ambitious project for this year's Fun-A-Day.

I'll be making a handbag, bag, or clutch, basically some variation of a handbag every day for the month of February!  It will be tough some days, and (hopefully) easier other days.

Well, without further ado, here is my Day One project.

Navy Tote - NestingDoll.

Those little white flakes are just some of the lovely snow we're getting!  Unfortunately it was not a good day for sunlight in the house (all those big gray snow clouds), but outside was plenty bright...of course then you get little white spots on your photo.

I'm super happy with this first bag!  I love it, and of course I wanna keep it.  Life is full of tough decisions.

Navy Tote - Close Up - NestingDoll.

How do you like it?  It's navy suede made from a vintage coat that I just recently picked up.  When using a specific garment or piece of leather that used to be something else, the design process is always a little different.  I factor in buttons, pockets, how it's sewn together, and then I design the bag after looking at what the coat has to offer.

Before Jacket - NestingDoll.

This isn't going to be a before and after project for the month, but just to give you an idea of what I was working with - it's a great coat isn't it?  It will make so many beautiful bags!  One already made.

Happy Superbowl Sunday everyone, and I'm gonna need all the good luck sent this way with this project!
