In the Kitchen: Oat Milk.

Guys, have you had Oat Milk?!  It's so tasty!  And cheap!  I love it as an alternative to almond milk and cashew milk, and it has a different, almost creamy taste and consistency.

I've been using the Homemade Oat Milk recipe from The Conscientious Eater  and I love it!  I love the added sweetness from the dates and vanilla she adds.

Homemade Oat Milk from the Conscientious Eater

Makes: About 3 Cups

Homemade Oat Milk)

Prep time:

Ingredients:
  • 1 Cup Rolled Oats
  • 3 Cups Filtered Water
  • 4 Pitted Medjool Dates
  • 2 Teaspoons Vanilla Extract

Instructions:
  1. Put all ingredients in blender and blend well.
  2. Strain out "oat pulp" with cheesecloth or nut milk bag if you have one.
  3. Enjoy!

I take the oat pulp that I strained out and throw it in my morning smoothie for a little extra fiber.  you can also compost the cheesecloth after you use it if you strain using that method.

I've been really loving adding it to my coffee for a little sweetened treat.  It makes it almost like an oat milk latte!
