I think it's safe to say that I definitely have a certain taste when it comes to pattern. You can see how the Liberty of London fabrics are similar in some ways to Marimekko (which we all know how much I love). Liberty of London fabrics pull from similar design elements and boy do I really love them.
The Liberty department store opened it's doors in 1875 and grew and grew until it became what it is today - a mecca of all sorts of lovely things on London's posh Regent Street. The store carries high end fashion and other luxe items, but dedicates it's third floor entirely to their beautiful fabrics.
The bold colors and floral designs are organic and lovely, while not being obnoxious or loud. The simplicity in nature is vibrant throughout, while maintaining an element of sophistication.
I think it's safe to say that if I ever make it to this amazing wonderland, I would be so overwhelmed I would be like a puppy who just entered a room full of tennis balls. Ooof, but I would die a very happy lady.
I don't think that there is much else that is more inspiring than a piece of beautiful fabric.
Some materials push you in the direction that they need to go in until you have a finished product in your hands. A yard of fabric is all it takes to be my blank canvas.
